Exploring Avian Influenza Impact
My name is Joseph, I am currently working on my masters thesis in Cline lab studying Avian Influenza's effect on northern shovelers and mallards. My research project is studying the intestinal epithelial cells of both birds, to better understand how they are being infected. Specifically, I will be looking at the uptake of the virus into the epithelial cells over a variety of times using a tcid 50 assay. I will investigate interferon production and protective efficacy in both northern shovelers and mallards. After finishing my masters research I hope to have contributed to prolonging the life of waterfowl and poultry.
